I Think My Pinterest Boards Know Me Better Than I Do

One of the things my mind wanders to whenever I have a bit of free time is scrolling through Pinterest. I don’t have to search for anything specifically, I just go through the home feed. My home feed is filled with pictures that I’ll sum up with one word - “Aesthetic”. When I see something I like, I save it to a board as every Pinterest user. I have over a hundred boards, because I need to have the boards organized and categorized by objects and vibes.

You might think a 100 would cover pretty much everything out there and I would just go about saving pictures into the boards I already have. Well, when I come across any pictures that I’d like to save that make me feel like it might not fit into the board I have, I create a new one.

I’ve had my pinterest account since I was 13 years old. All of my friends had it and showed it off, but I was the only kid without any social media then. One day, my dad got me my first email and let me have my pinterest account. My best friend helped me set it up and I spent the entire day tuning my feed and exploring the app.

Over the years, I’ve used Pinterest for art inspiration, use pictures of aesthetic rooms to live vicariously through them as I have never had a permanent home and therefore never had the chance to decorate my room and house the way I wanted to. I also use it for showing the hair stylist how I want my hair cut, for fashion and for cooking. Now I have a lot of variety in my boards, and I’d like to show you some of my favorites.

The regular boards

Makeup

Although the screenshot above shows mostly eye makeup, I swear I have pins that show you how to use a colour corrector and I’m really crazy about lippies. I have about 20 pins that acts like a shrine towards rom&nd lip glosses because I’ve always wanted one. I don’t really like using a lot of products on my face so I focus on my eyes.

Art

I started drawing about the same time I created my Pinterest account and have been using it for references while drawing. I don’t think I’ve ever used anything else, even Google. As is evident from the screenshot, I’m currently exploring Line Art.

Room Decor

I love seeing the green elements in a room, the comfy chairs, the quilts with the pretty patterns and the elaborate desk setups - you know, the way the PC is kept, the fake green vines on the walls, the pegboard decorations and of course I need a big yellow lamp over my desk.

Fashion

The best thing about being Indian is that I have so many ways to style myself just in the Indian attire - I mean we have South India and North India and that in itself has so many varieties. And of course, I can mix and match western with desi couture - the classic Kurti with cargos and Converse shoes never hurt anybody! AND I’m very happy to say I own something very similar to the first wrap top in the screenshot.

The weird boards

Now that we’re done with the “normie” boards, this is the part where it gets interesting - I have some very weird boards. And the best part is that I keep coming back to these boards more than any others, you’ll know what I mean.

”For Being Petty”

I have friends who love teasing me and I might not be very good with words, but I can get back at them through these little gems from the internet. God bless you memers. And yes, I notice that the cats make up 90% of the board.

Rain - gloomy and cozy

Something about the rain moves something deep in my soul, the sky gets dark and a cool breeze blows in and the leaves rustle. Suddenly, it’s pouring cats and dogs and I could be really worried about life but as soon as it’s raining - my mind calms down. I breathe slow and relax my shoulders, I stare at the skies and romanticize life. I go through these pictures on nights I can’t sleep, I play rain sounds on Spotify and drift off to sleep while scrolling through the board.

uhhhushsjsj

These are pictures that are so beautiful that you can’t stop at describing them at “Scenery”, you need the exact word that matches the warm and fuzzy feeling that creeps up on you when you look at the sunlight hitting the leaves and the bright flowers and the greeniest green trees. I could almost cry with happiness.

Sleep - literally the best thing ever

My immediate solution to any problem in life is to sleep. Actually, I do that when I’m happy, sad or mad about anything. Sleep is quite literally the best thing in the world, so whenever I see a girl sleeping in the comfiest bed, I have to save it because it helps me sleep on nights I can’t sleep. Yes, this comes right before resorting to the rain pictures.

Dawg sleepin’

What’s better than comfy pictures of humans? comfy pictures of cute dogs in pajamas. I mean would you look at those paws tucked in ughhh!

Why Pinterest is my favorite social media

Now that we’ve covered my neurotic boards, you can understand how much I love this app. Unlike other social media apps, I can be in touch with my creativity and my inner self. It feels like it’s just me using the app, my safe haven and I know there are other people using it but there’s no negative comments, no online bullying or fighting. It’s just aesthetics and good times!

This is probably my favourite board to exist, it’s so girly and pretty I love it!!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go save another picture into a board that definitely did not need to exist.
